Toni Blackdeer Sworn-In as newest Gaming Commissioner

The Legislature appointed Toni Blackdeer to the Gaming Commission to replace an open seat after the November 2021 resignation of Quentin Allen, to return to his post at HCG-Wisconsin Dells. Toni will fulfill the remainder of that term.

Gaming Commissioners are tasked with ensuring compliance with federal, state, and tribal gaming regulations. They are also the licensing authority for the facilities and employees of all Ho-Chunk Nation enterprises.

The Legislature is currently working with the State of Wisconsin on an amendment similar to other tribes that allows for sports betting within the casinos. Once the amendment is completed, it will be sent to the Bureau of Indian Affairs for approval. Once approved, the Nation could begin offering sports betting at Ho-Chunk Gaming facilities.
